Because I was concerned about sound transmission, I decided to insulate the tubing. I wrapped it with sound insulation and, partly for thermal purposes but mainly for appearance, a layer of foam insulaton. I think this makes sense, as a small hole, in this case the rear defrost outlet, can let through a fair amount of sound.
