Exhaust System Refinishing
I removed the old rust from the pipes and what appeared to be black paint overspray on the muffler with a rotary wire brush. I used sandpaper on the spots that were not accessible to the wire brush. The pipes are now coated with a high-temperature exhaust-pipe coating, good to 1200F. The muffler will get a coat of a different, somewhat lower-temperature paint. These two paints comprise the Eastwood exhaust-refinishing kit. The kit is available in silver or gray. I chose the silver because I thought it would look more like the original galvanized finish. It obviously doesn't, and instead looks a little gaudy, but it will have to do. At least it is somewhat hidden.
