It appears that the interiors of the valve covers were also powder coated. I cringe to think of what might have happened if these had peeled, but fortunately they didn't, at least not on the inside. Perhaps the engine oil prevented it in some way. I'll remove the interior coating and just paint these with high-temperature paint.
