Rear Package Shelf
When I removed the insulation in the engine compartment, I saw some signs of rust. I pulled off the old, cruddy horsehair mat from the top of the shelf, revealing some rust along the seam. No great surprise; it's common in these cars. I scraped the rust, treated it with Eastwood rust remover, and finally rinsed with water and alcohol. There were a couple spots where the rust had penetrated the shelf. I painted all the affected areas with anti-rust paint, but that's all; more effort would probably do more harm than good. I left the horsehair pad in the lower section, as it doesn't do any harm there and is a mess to remove.
