Heater Control and Cables
The heater controls consist of the single lever at the top of the picture: if you pull it backward, the heating deflectors and gates are set to divert warm air into the cabin. The deflectors and gates are controlled by cables that loop through a hole in the heater control lever. They are made of a spring-tempered steel, like piano wire, coated with plastic. In this picture you can also see that the shift bushings are nearly new, as are the shift rod and cup. This is important, as worn bushings lead to imprecise shifting.
