I repainted the metal top frame and made a new platform out of half-inch plywood, held on by carriage bolts. The "bump" on the underside of the engine fits into the gap between the platform pieces. I think this will be much stronger. (In this picture, the legs appear not to be parallel. That's camera distortion; they are indeed parallel.)
