Pushrod Modifications

pushrodmodifications.jpg

The single-cylinder pushrod is too long for the dual master cylinder. It has to be shortened by 1.0 to 1.25 inches and rethreaded. Unfortunately, the existing threads are rolled, not cut,so the shaft isn't thick enough for a full thread. This was a concern for me, and I briefly considered fabricating a new pushrod. In the end, it seemed that the threads, while not full depth, would be OK for this application. There is plenty of threaded length in the brake pivot connector, and the forces on the threads are not nearly as great as in a torqued bolt.
